Growthdeck Backs measurable.energy and its Plans to Enhance Energy Efficiency on a Global Scale

The measurable.energy team, who were previously featured on the BBC’s ‘People Fixing the World’, are helping businesses reduce their energy costs and carbon emissions by up to 50% through their patented AI-powered smart socket technology.

They are tackling the silent energy drain from devices such as computer monitors and printers, which remain plugged in and running even when they are not in use. In commercial buildings, the electricity used by these devices accounts for approximately 40% of total energy consumption, up to half of which is wasted.

In the UK alone, there are around 960m installed sockets, resulting in an estimated £17 billion wasted annually on small power. These inefficiencies contribute 9 megatons of CO2 emissions per year, equivalent to the annual emissions of nearly 2m cars.

measurable.energy’s patented solution – which integrates advanced computer chips, AI models and network connectivity – is set to redefine energy efficiency in commercial buildings. Its sockets identify types of appliances, analyse their behaviour and automatically switch off power when they are not in use. The company’s m.e Platform dashboard allows users to control, report and track live and historical energy usage, carbon emissions and energy costs in real time. The technology also improves building safety by turning off overloaded sockets and reporting unusual activity.

The company has already made a real impact for businesses across the UK, including Kier, Balfour Beatty Vinci, CBRE, BAM, Costain and Sainsbury’s.

Its senior management team includes:

  • Dr Dan Williams (CEO and Co-founder) has over 15 years’ experience as an environmental sustainability technologist. He has an Engineering Doctorate (EngD) with Microsoft and Henley Business School specialising in software services for environmental and energy impact assessment.

  • Dr Josh Eadie (CTO and Co-founder) is a robotics and machine learning specialist with an Engineering Doctorate (EngD) with Thales in these fields. Josh also worked with Qingtech, a Reading-based environmental technology consultancy.

  • Dave Wardell (CCO) has a proven 20-year track record in senior client-facing commercial roles with Vodafone, Nokia and SaaS scale-ups. Dave has scaled three SaaS businesses from <£1m to £5–10m.

  • Karen Bach (Chair) has a wealth of senior finance and leadership experience across several industries with software and hardware businesses. Karen has been Chair of numerous start-ups and scale-ups, and led several exits through various channels.

Our Head of Investment, Freddie Hamilton, says:

“Whilst initially targeting the construction, retail and commercial real estate sectors, measurable.energy is already experiencing increasing demand from public sector organisations, hospitality, university campuses and medical facilities for its unique AI-powered smart sockets.”

“The company’s Series A+ funding will be used to drive conversion of its substantial sales pipeline and complete development of new products to enter the European and US markets.”

“We are delighted to be supporting measurable.energy as it looks to build on its strong momentum and pursues its plans to enhance energy efficiency on a global scale.”
